Intermittent problems this afternoon

The problem is being caused by the company that provides the site's security certificate. Every time someone visits the site, the server checks that the certificate is valid, before displaying the page. But their systems are down at the moment.
I've made a temporary change so that check doesn't happen at the moment, so things should be working again now.
