Our poor run rate could cost us too. Despite hefty wins of our own in the past week.

and the rest of our team are reserves. I know they’ve had the biggest workload of all counties but perhaps a match against this team might have helped some of our lot with their development. Or for someone like Parky to show he can do it at a higher level?

But in reality all pretty meaningless, not first-class and just a practice match

We’re doing our best to let Northants win this with a couple of no balls in the penultimate over. 19 off the last one needed.
If we do win good chance it will be a decider against Yorks tomorrow

wow, what a last couple of overs. Just about over the line. If Yorkshire lose we are somehow in for a decider tomorrow.

although Rich Rae on RL was worried about a fracas at the end as we’re on a suspended points fine if we misbehave on field again…..

I was looking forward to this afternoon's match. Until I read this... https://www.leicestershireccc.co.uk/news/cdc-panel-impose-two-point-penalty-on-leicestershire

Leicestershire County Cricket Club is devastated by a decision of the Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) to impose a two-point deduction, which effectively ends our chances of qualification for the Vitality Blast quarter-final stage.

The Club incurred two further fixed penalties during the home match against Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Friday night, with the CDC informing the Club late last night that the deduction was to be implemented immediately.

Leicestershire has worked tirelessly to improve onfield discipline following two previous hearings in 2021 and did not incur any fixed penalties during the first half of the current season.

It was therefore requested for the improvement in behaviour to be considered in mitigation, but based on previous stipulations the CDC has decided to apply the sanction immediately, with no right to appeal the decision.

The CDC’s decision can be read HERE.

The ECB have issued the following statement on behalf of the CDC.

The Cricket Discipline Commission (CDC) has imposed a two-point sanction on Leicestershire.

The sanction is imposed immediately to Leicestershire’s 2022 Vitality Blast points total after the club incurred two further fixed penalties during their home match against Northamptonshire Steelbacks on Friday night.

The CDC’s decision follows the sanction it imposed on Leicestershire on 2 August 2021, after the club had received six fixed penalties for breaches of ECB Directive 3.6 from the period 2 August 2020 and 1 July 2021 and the subsequent hearing on 3 September 2021 after Leicestershire incurred a further fixed penalty point after the 2 August 2021 decision.

On 2 August 2021 the CDC imposed the sanction on the club as follows: “Subject to the over-riding discretion of the panel, should there be one or more fixed penalty issued to a Leicestershire player within 12 months of this hearing, the Club will be deducted either 12 LV= County Championship points (or equivalent), 2 Royal London points (or equivalent) or 2 Vitality Blast points (or equivalent). The more serious the breach or breaches, the more likely it is that points will be deducted.”. On 3 September following the further fixed penalty the CDC decision stated “if there are any further breaches at any Level on or before 1 August 2022, a points deduction will almost certainly be an inevitable consequence”.

Rich Rae called it immediately so I was half expecting it. Absolute amateur hour from the players, after winning four games in a row to get to this position. And now, to cap it all, they hammer Yorkshire to no avail.

just really, really poor.

At least we’ve uncovered Reehan Ahmed and Callum continues to be unsufficently recognised for his superb one day bowling. Mulder has also done OK since coming in for Rutherford (why did we need him at all?). But of course none of Ahmed, Callum and Naveen will be available for the 50 over comp.

3 century’s today a much better batting performance, must be a pretty flat track as over 1,000 runs in the match so far

Yes good on them, runs still needed scoring particularly when we were 0-1. But can’t help feeling it says more about the pitch than us. Good for Kimber and Patel though (other than falling short by one run)

As I type this, Leicestershire are 727-4. Crazy.

Ackermann 260 not out
Mulder 215 not out.

A partnership (ongoing) of 447.

Leicestershire's highest ever total was 701-4 declared against Worcestershire in 1906.

Currently 731/4.
record first class total and record partnership for any wicket for Leics. Knocks Hodge/Maddy v Loughborough students off the top spot.

fourth highest 5th wicket partnership of all time by any team.

Ackermann out for a fist ball duck today but Mulder hits another century and still going strong at 140 not out
